Stern/McCallin Group Presents Wellness Presentation

November 15, 2017 – The Stern/McCallin group presented “COMPASSION FATIGUE, STRESS AND BURNOUT Real Life Strategies When Real Life Is Too Much” during the November dinner. The special presenter was Kari Knutson with Knutson Consulting http://knutsonconsulting.com/

Ms. Knutson gave a very practical and useful presentation on the times when the demands of the job outweigh the emotional reserves a person has available to them. In such times, a person can suffer from “compassion fatigue” as well as stress and burnout. She gave many tips for attorneys to deal with stress and achieve work-life balance. “Sleep is a bodily function, leisure is a choice.”

Doyle Inn Master Jack Robinson Wins Unanimous Victory in Important Special Education Case in the United States Supreme Court.

Congratulations to Inn member and Master Jack Robinson for a very important decision at the United States Supreme Court.  In the 8-0 decision authored by Chief Justice Roberts, the Court held that school districts must give students with disabilities the chance to make meaningful, “appropriately ambitious. ”  The decision in Endrew F. v. Douglas County School District could have far-reaching implications for the 6.5 million students with disabilities in the United States.
